Japan Trip
Em and I drove down to Las Vegas late Thursday night and listened to songs from musicals - a clear difference from my two other trips to the airport this week. {Solid Coldplay with Matt on his way to Malaysia for HXP and a mix of ‘old music’ as he likes to call it, with Luke… Pink Floyd etc. with a good dose of ‘fire talks’ in there too.}
Em and I listened to all of WAITRESS (She hasn’t seen it and its been a long time since I have) and then Hamilton. We picked up Dad - flying in from WY - and then headed to the Hilton for the night because of our early flight. We turned off the lights quickly but it took me a while to get to sleep because of my restless leg. Yes… definitely rest-less. So frustrating. My 6 hrs of sleep turned into 4 and the alarm went off way too early. We got ready, checked out and headed to Terminal 3 for our flight into Vancouver on Air Canada.
I wish we had a night to enjoy the city. It’s been too long since I’ve been here! I was nostalgic as we entered the Vancouver airport with all the red maple leaf sweatshirts and souvenirs and then the sign that said WASHROOM instead of Restroom just made me miss my hometown every more. Emily immediately noticed how quiet and peaceful the airport was. The center had trees and greenery and a river running through it - just like it was a national park. I loved it. We got something to eat and then boarded our flight to TOKYO. Can’t believe we are going to TOKYO! Chris has put so much time into planning this trip and even though it’s going to be HOT and HUMID with an excessive heat warning coming our way, we’re so excited to explore this new country.
My 10 hour flight was spent sleeping on Chris’ lap, reading, journaling, playing Emily’s watermelon game and watching ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ in honor of Katie and Taylor being in Singapore this weekend. It was a great flight. We landed in TOKYO when it would have been about 2:00am for us. We then waited in a long customs line, took a 2 1/2 hour flight to the airport near KYOTO, collected our luggage, waited in line for a big travel bus and rode for an hour and a half to where our hotel was. The last flight and bus ride was pretty rough. We were SO tired and SO uncomfortable and to be honest I was SO grumpy. I need my sleep in order to function!
We finally got to our cute hotel, and were so excited to finally go to sleep!
