G&G Walton’s Visit–The Villa
From Castelrotto, we continued driving towards Verona and turned into a small town to find our villa. Since we had remembered pictures of our Villa in the middle of a vineyard, the narrow roads and tight tricky turns within the city had us puzzled – but sure enough, after a turn we almost couldn’t make in the van, we drove up a dirt road and through switchbacks amid olive trees to the perfect hilltop ‘vineyard enclosed’ Villa. It could have been right out of a movie.
We met Filiberto, toured the rooms and grounds and moved in. Then we walked back into town to find a pizza place.
We ordered some 4 cheese (Chris’ favorite), Asparagus and Egg (my Mom’s favorite), Spicy Salomie (my Dad’s favorite) and some Ham and Olive (my favorite!) I just love Italian olives – even when they come whole with the pit still inside.
Back at the villa we played Ticket to Ride after the kids worked hard on school assignments and projects. We really did have fun playing ‘Zug um Zug’ (The European Board game in German) in every new European city we travelled to.
Love this picture of my cute boy… he’s a big game player.

The Villa
This Italian Villa in the hilltops outside of Verona was really one of the best places we’ve stayed in Europe – and we’ve stayed in some great places. It was perched on the top of the hill surrounded by vineyards overlooking the city below. I loved the huge courtyard, the back patio with cute mint green table and chairs, the fall colors, the surrounding vineyard.
The inside had lots of bedrooms, living spaces and a new kitchen.
