France - Château for the Week

Chris found this château and we loved staying here for our four nights in the Loire Valley. We had access to three fourths of the building and property. Four bedrooms, two living rooms, a sitting room, dining room and cozy little kitchen. It was perfect, even with creaking wood floors, a haunted room with doors that just opened by themselves (says Katie) and a cute bathroom ensuite but without a toilet. We loved the color and furnishings of this cute French château. What a dream!

The cutest stone steps, side door and ivy all over.

One morning we relaxed and enjoyed more time at the house and on the grounds. Chris and Taylor went for a run into the village, Cassie slept in and I headed out on a walk with my camera. I found a diagonal trail heading down the hill and over to a run down mill beside a dried up stream. I’m sure this was a vibrant part of the estate in times past. The grass was covered in morning dew, but I walked through the fields anyway and discovered a nearby bridge and little river. I just love to think about the lives lived here through the years.

The château sits in the middle of beautiful green forests carpeted with little purple flowers. It’s magical.

When Chris and Taylor got back from their run, Katie and Taylor pulled out the badminton rackets. Dad joined in and Ryan did too after waving to us from his bathroom window. Taylor’s morning plan included a cold plunge into the pool and Chris couldn’t resist either. It was refreshing but not as cold as they expected.

Our chefs in the kitchen making scrambled eggs and cutting up fruit while Ryan and Cassie play a game of Project L with us. We didn’t make a lot of time for games but it was fun to teach them this new one.
